Polished Concrete

Luxurious polished concrete floors for commercial and residential properties in New York

Polished Concrete New York

Concrete is one of the most environmentally friendly flooring options. As a structural part of every residential, industrial, and commercial building in New York, it is no surprise that polished concrete is becoming more and more popular amongst property owners.
Thanks to the concrete densifier and the polishing process, polished concrete is a lot more durable, hardwearing and long-lasting than ordinary unsealed concrete floor. This makes it ideal for New York industrial and manufacturing facilities, warehouses, distribution and logistic centers.
At New York Industrial Services, we offer polished concrete suitable for industrial settings and high sheen polished concrete suitable for commercial and residential luxury properties. The modern and luxurious look of polished concrete floors is guaranteed to elevate any warehouse, home, bar, restaurant, retail shop, big box store, hotel, office or residential building and more.
Due to the cleanliness of the process and the lack of toxic or hazardous chemicals, polished concrete floors can often be commissioned as soon as the project is completed, making it ideal for Long Island's industrial and commercial facilities that cannot afford to shut down for an extended period.

Polished Concrete Process

Polished concrete is installed by grinding concrete surfaces with progressively finer diamond abrasives. This process is very similar to polishing natural stone, such as a granite countertop, and leaves the concrete surfaces with a similar feel and wear characteristics.
  • Step 1

We start by mechanically grinding the concrete floor to remove any old coatings, dirt, oils, stains and grime.

  • Step 2

We repair any cracks, holes and imperfections on the floor. This ensures the structural integrity of the concrete floor.

  • Step 3

Once we are happy with the look of the floor and the desired level of aggregate exposure is reached, we make many passes over the floor with various diamond grits, starting with a lower grit and moving to higher and finer grits.

  • Step 4

The next step is to grout any remaining holes and apply a concrete hardener. The concrete hardener is an important part, as it densifies the concrete and closes the gaps on the surface, making it a far stronger and denser floor.

  • Step 5

When the concrete hardener is fully cured, we start the polishing process with different resin polishing pads until we reach the desired sheen. Lowest sheen is 800 grit ideal for industrial use and 3000 grit being the highest ideal for commercial and residential use.

  • Step 6

The final step is to clean your floor and apply a protective UV stable topcoat.
